Gallego Talks Protecting Arizona’s Water with Local Leaders

PHOENIX - Today, Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-03) held a roundtable with municipal and Tribal leaders from across the Valley to discuss securing Arizona’s water future.

“Arizona has long been a leader in water conservation, but it shouldn’t have to deal with the effects of a decades-long, regional drought on its own,” said Rep. Gallego. “That's why I’m fighting in Congress for a fair deal that brings home to Arizona the resources needed to secure our water future. I look forward to continuing that fight with the insights I learned from local leaders today.”

Gathering at the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association offices, Rep. Gallego joined elected leaders from Apache Junction, Avondale, Buckeye, Cave Creek, Gila River Indian Community, Glendale, Goodyear, Guadalupe, Mesa, Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Phoenix, Queen Creek, and Scottsdale.

During the event, Rep. Gallego shared his new fact sheet: Securing Arizona’s Water Future, which details his work on Colorado River negotiations, cracking down on groundwater abuse by foreign corporations, preventing water price gouging, and more.
